Nolan Cramer
Nolan is one of The Blade’s first high school interns and will be working on the web desk through the end of July.
Born in Toledo, he lives in Sylvania. After attending Sylvania Schools for K-8th grade, he transferred to TPS so he could go to Toledo Early College.
Last September he joined the new Toledo Early College website, InsidetheAcorn.com. While working on the high school news website, he covered numerous Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton campaign events.
In his spare time, Nolan enjoys visits to Deep Lake near Brooklyn, Michigan and numerous outdoor activities like boating and fishing.
He hopes to pursue a degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Valentin Ornelas Jr.
Valentin Ornelas Jr.
Valentin is a senior at Toledo Early College High School and is a newsroom intern on the city desk.
Valentin also has just finished his freshman year at the University of Toledo. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, but moved to Toledo 10 years ago because his father was offered a job here.
Valentin hopes to pursue a career in journalism or creative writing.
He has co-directed/co-written skits for his school drama club and is writing a play that will premiere in April at Toledo Early College. He is also the editor and founder of his school’s news website, InsidetheAcorn.com. He plays guitar and started a band — TEC-SAVVY — that plays at select school events. Other hobbies include running, reading, and playing basketball.
Valentin hopes this internship can help him gain skills to bring back to his school’s news website.

My name is Caleb and I am one of the three high school interns for The Blade this summer.
I attend Scott High School. I am going to be taking a class at the University of Toledo this fall. In this past school year, I took journalism at Scott where I met Dave Murray. I have written about 12 articles, a few of which are published on the Scott website. I live in the Old West End. My goal is to work in criminal justice.
I was born on March 10, 2001 in Walnut Creek, California. I lived there for 13 years before my family moved here in 2014. I am the youngest of two brothers and one sister. Amanda, Travis, and Taylor are each in their late 20’s. My siblings lived with me until I was eight. Now my sister Amanda lives right next to us. She has two kids, Mason and JoJo who I get to rough house with everyday.
While living in California, I played basketball and baseball. I was far more skilled in baseball as I had the privilege to be ranked #1 overall in all of California in 2013. In basketball I was a starter for my team, however I was not good enough to be ranked. I loved baseball, it was my favorite sport to play and watch. Now I’m in love with basketball because of how well my Warriors are playing. Now that I live in Ohio, I get to tease all of the Cavs fans. For baseball I am an Oakland Athletics fan.
