May and June Eddy Award winners
MAY
Olivia Herrera receives the Desk Eddy. When her work compiling features listings slowed down because of the pandemic, she began helping archive materials for the library. It made a huge difference.
We award a trio of awards for the News Eddy: Amanda Levine for her prolific output, including a variety of different sports and then Mud Hens coverage before and during Opening Day. She also tracked down MLB icon Roger Clemens for an interview during the Mud Hens preseason.
Also receiving a News Eddy is Ellie Buerk, for her insightful look at how schools are grappling with Title IX changes, and other consistently engaging stories; and Outdoors Editor Matt Markey for taking video and offering his reporting services during flooding in Ottawa County in late May.
The Visual Eddy goes to Jeremy Wadsworth for his consistently captivating Mud Hens photos, among others.
JUNE
The Desk Eddy goes to Heather Denniss for tackling the features design job following the departure of Kate Mitchell.
Kaitlin Durbin receives a Digital Eddy for tracking down our area’s first Vax-a-Million winner, heading directly to his home, and being the first to speak with him.
Finally, Phil Kaplan receives the Visual Eddy for his work on Cheap Eats and Dinner for One, along with video/photo coverage of the guide to food at area golf courses, and sundry other tasks including but not limited to creating our skyboxes each day.
Winners will receive a $50 gift card.
