5 win Eddy Awards in January 2019
DIGITAL:
Dave Dombrowski wins for his work on NewsSlide. He cranked out visually appealing slides at a spectacular rate. The recent editions really stood out in part because of his dedication and hard work.
DESK:
This goes to Bill Piotrowski and Donn Walden for their efforts to keep the sports department moving in the absence of a sports editor. We appreciate all they did to assist the department. New sports editor Scott McNeish joined us this week.
NEWS:
Allison Dunn is recognized for being the only media member to know about and attend a plea hearing for former pastor Cordell Jenkins. In just a few months, she already has developed good sources on the court beat. In addition, Allison wrote an enterprise piece about how grieving mothers deal with the loss of children to overdose.
VISUAL:
Kurt Steiss wins for his work on a Toledo Magazine page. Kurt wrote a boxing story for this page, as well as shooting all the accompanying photos and video.
Each winner receives a $50 gas card. Please send your Eddy Award recommendations for February to Kim Bates by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28.
