Meet Nick Thomas

Nick is grateful for the opportunity to join the photo staff of The Blade for the fall internship.

Nick is originally from the South Jersey area, only about 40 minutes south of Philadelphia, and recently graduated from Penn State in May with a degree in visual communications journalism. He got his first taste of hands-on journalism working with Penn State’s student run newspaper, The Daily Collegian as a photographer and also taking a leadership role as photo editor.

After graduation Nick also spent the last few months working as a part-time photographer for Centre County, Pa.’s regional newspaper, The Centre Daily Times and a wide array of freelance work before making the move to Toledo.

When Nick isn’t spending time behind the camera, he is a self taught musician and had to make the tough choice to fit clothes in the back of his Mini Cooper rather than a drum set. Nick is also a self-proclaimed “gearhead” and loves all things that have a motor in it.

Nick’s parents and oldest brother still live in southern New Jersey with his 3-year-old pit/husky mix, Kezzy, while his older brother continues medical school in Florida.
