Zaborney, McCray, and Landsberger win March Eddys
Every person’s life tells a story, and the March Eddy awards focus on work that reflected on the stories of two well-known individuals with local ties.
Mark Zaborney wins the News Eddy for his A1 obit on Ned Garver, a onetime Toledo Mud Hens pitcher who spent 14 years in the major leagues, and died in Bryan at age 91.
Acting Night City Editor Vanessa McCray wins the March Desk Eddy for overseeing the reporting and writing of the obit for Bill Boeschenstein, the former CEO of Owens Corning.
The Visual Eddy is awarded to Joe Landsberger for the Food page design on Pi Day, and the design of templates on the fly for the electronic edition of The Blade the night that Libercus/Microsoft Azure went down.
Each will receive a $50 gas card. Nominations for April Eddy awards can be made at anytime during the month but must be submitted to Luann no later than noon on May 1.
