Meet intern Victorio Cabrera
Hi. I will be a senior at Yale majoring in political science. This summer, I’ll be a newsroom intern.
I was born in Uruguay — ask me about its booming sheep and cattle industries — but I grew up in Greenville, S.C., a city which is mostly known for its architecturally unusual two-pole suspension bridge.
During my time at Yale, I have been managing editor of the Herald, a weekly, and am currently managing editor of the New Journal, a long-form literary nonfiction magazine about Yale and New Haven. Aside from campus journalism, I was also involved with the Urban Debate League of New Haven, which runs debate programs for New Haven public schools.
In my spare time, I love to read, write, and run. After college, I’d like to to go to law school.
At The Blade, I’m most excited to develop the skills of daily-news reporting, which I haven’t gotten to do much of. I’m excited to live in and learn about Toledo. I’d like to report on the immigrant community and immigrant activism, anything to do with the law (crimes, courts, etc.), and public health.
Victorio’s email address is [email protected] and his work extension is 6050. Welcome to The Blade, Victorio.
