Svoboda named interim sports editor
Please congratulate Jeff Svoboda on his appointment as The Blade’s interim sports editor.
Jeff spent the past two years as an editor on the newsroom’s web desk.
He came to The Blade in 2015 after serving as editor-in-chief of Columbus Sports Publications, where he was editor of Buckeye Sports Bulletin, BuckeyeSports.com, and Reds Report, a monthly news magazine about the Cincinnati Reds. For several years before that, he was a reporter and writer for those publications.
Jeff graduated from the Ohio State University in 2006 with a degree in journalism and political science. While at OSU he was a sports writer and sports editor of The Lantern, the university’s student newspaper.
Jeff’s philosophy of covering sports is summed up in the last graph of his letter seeking appointment as our new sports editor: “I believe it comes down to a simple maxim: Write the stories you’d want to read. If given the opportunity, I’d like to establish that kind of culture in The Blade’s sports department.”
