Whenever possible spell out all numbers and ordinals below 10 in body type. There are exceptions as follow: Ages: Use numerals without exception when referring to the age of people or animals in years, months, weeks, or days. This also applies to approximate ages: He was in his 40s.
Always use numerals in headlines. There is an exception in this case and that is the number one. It would be OK if we wrote in a headline: He was one of the best reporters ever. There are more exceptions. Please see The Blade Stylebook under the NUMBERS heading.
As of Feb. 1, retail giant Walmart changed the spelling of its corporate name to Walmart Inc., with no hyphen and no capital M. Its stores are called Walmart. Please be careful when editing a story or writing a headline to use the proper spelling, as sometimes the news services have it incorrect.
