Phishing emails sent to Blade Staff

Several staff members have received emails since Thanksgiving Day appearing to be from Blade personnel requesting they purchase gift cards, reveal the codes on the back and email the codes back to the sender.

Check the email address before you respond to any email that seems a bit suspect.

In this case, the sender spoofed valid toledoblade.com staff member email addresses when they email addresses were:

• presidentoffice201@inbox.lt
• executivemail2@mysprint-personalofficialmail.com

Any requests for financial information, secure information (passwords, Social Security Numbers, purchases, wire transfers, etc.) should always be confirmed with the staff member before you act on it.

Any suspect emails should be forwarded to our helpdesk (helpdesk@toledoblade.com) for follow-up.
