Meet visiting journalist Vlad
My name is Vlad Dokshin and I’m a documentary photographer.
I was born in 1994 In Magnitogorsk, Russia. It’s a small town built around iron and steel production (MMK), which is also known for it’s great hockey team called Metallurg and extreme pollution.
After I graduated from school there, I went to Moscow to study journalism at State University (MSU). I picked photojournalism because I really liked documentary movies and photos back then. Now I think that it was I right choice.
From 2016, I work as a photographer for Novaya gazeta – a Moscow-based newspaper. Novaya is famous for great investigation reporting and honest coverage of many events in Russian Federation. Novaya gazeta was among media organizations that worked on Panama papers investigation and got a Pulitzer prize for it in 2017.
I usually cover different contemporary issues with my photos and sometimes work as a news photographer and do portraits. I participated in a few multimedia projects such as The Last Emperors and Uglevodorodina.
Personally, I like cinema, non-fiction books and indie music.
