The Blade garners 10 awards from Press Club of Cleveland
The Blade won 10 awards this month at a recognition ceremony put on by the Press Club of Cleveland. Congrats, and thanks to each of you for your work and involvement here.
Kirk Walters won first pace in the Best in Ohio category for Cartooning, while Tom Fisher won second place in the Best in Ohio category for Illustrations, All Publications.
Other first place awards went to:
- Jeff Basting in the single page design-broadsheet category for “Season of the Arts.”
- Tom Fisher in the illustration-single image category for his work on “Birth Control.”
- Blade editorial staff for the editorial “Hickey did it, they hid it.”
Second place awards went to:
- Jerry Petersen for headline writing of “Centenarian puts his mettle to the pedals.”
- Jeff Basting for single page design-broadsheet for “Fibonacci phenomena.”
- Kyle Rowland for sports writing on “Muncie and back. Inside a road trip for the Toledo basketball team.”
Third place awards went to:
- Nicki Gorny in general features for “Cast Out.”
- Blade staff in the analysis category for “Remembering a fallen icon.”
