Blade staff picks up 13 Ohio APME awards

COLUMBUS — The Blade won 13 awards, including three first-place honors, on May 7,  2023, in the annual Ohio Associated Press Media Editors newspaper competition.

Competing in the top division of newspapers in Ohio, Blade reporters, photographers, and designers won awards for best news, explanatory, enterprise, sports, and headline writing, as well as honors for graphic design and best feature and sports photography.

The Blade’s Stephen Zenner won first-place awards for Best Photo Story and Best Explanatory Reporting for his “Nation at War” and “Exodus: Escape from Ukraine” stories. Blade Photographer Rebecca Benson won first place for Best News Photo and took home a third-place award for Best Sports Photo.

The awards were announced during a luncheon at the Villa Milano Banquet and Conference Center in Columbus.
