Blade’s political convention coverage
Tom Troy, Jim Provance and Kyle Rowland were The Blade’s lead reporters in Cleveland the week of July 17 for the Republican National Convention. Photographers Cameron Hart, Amy Voigt and Katie Rausch will also be on hand throughout the week. Other reporters, such as Lauren Lindstrom and Elena Saavedra Buckley will have sidebar stories during the week.
Jim Provance will be inside the convention hall for the Democratic National Convention the following week and Gabby Deutch has volunteered to handle any protests in Philadelphia.
Several Pittsburgh Post-Gazette employees also will be at both conventions.
Given the chance that tensions could boil over in the streets outside either convention, we may need to call on additional reporters, web editors and copy editors to handle expanded coverage. This group always rises to a challenge, so we feel comfortable with our plan headed into a busy couple of political weeks.
