Zoom meeting May 11 for APME Awards

Ohio APME will be announcing the winners of awards during a Zoom meeting scheduled from 7-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11. They are electing not to have any in-person events this year.

Blade photographers win 17 awards

Blade photographers captured 17 awards in the 2020 Ohio News Photographers still photo contest. The awards in 70th annual news photography contest were judged on March 12.

Mary Bilyeu wins national award

Mary made a big impression in the 2020 National Federation of Press Women at the large communications competition, winning three feature writing honors, which were for work outside of her food writing.

Blade reporters win honors for environment, politics coverage

Two Blade journalists were recognized for their work covering the Great Lakes and politics. Tom Henry received a Great Lakes Leadership Award and Liz Skalka is among Ohio reporters whom Washington Post readers should follow this election year.

Blade staffers win Ohio SPJ and outdoor writer awards

The Blade was once again recognized as one of Ohio’s best newspapers, winning two first-place and two second-place awards from the Ohio SPJ contest. And Matt Markey won a series of awards from the Outdoor Writers of Ohio for work done in 2019.

Blade garners national ASPE awards

The Blade placed in the top 10 in four Associated Press Sports Editors awards categories among newspapers of similar size nationwide. The award will be presented at the APSE summer conference in Indianapolis.
