Meet Sarah Elms
Sarah joins the City Desk from the Record-Eagle in Traverse City, Mich. She worked the Record-Eagle for nearly three years covering K-12 education, social services, and features. Sarah is 2012 graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Meet Geoff Burns
Geoff is a general-assignment reporter on the City Desk. He comes to The Blade from the Northwest Signal in Napoleon. Geoff is a May 2014 graduate from Bowling Green State University. He lives in Bowling Green with his girlfriend. Britt, and two German Shepherd dogs, Chloe and Rylie.
Meet Donn Walden
Donn comes to The Blade from the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press, where he was a sports page designer/copy editor from August 2015 through September 2016. He's also worked in Daytona Beach, Fla., and the Media Network of Central Ohio, a subsidiary of Gannett.
Meet Nick Thomas
Nick is The Blade's fall photo intern. Originally from southern New Jersey, he is a recent graduate from Penn State with a degree in visual communications journalism. He worked at Penn State's student run newspaper, The Daily Collegian, and was a part-time photographer at The Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. (home of Penn State).
Meet Zack Lemon
Zack is a new general assignment reporter. Originally from the Cleveland area, Zack worked for the Mansfield News Journal before joining The Blade. He is a 2016 graduate of Ashland University with a degree in digital media journalism and political science.
Meet Jeff Schmucker
Jeff is the new night city editor. He previously worked as a city editor for Public Opinion, a daily in south central Pennsylvania. He also worked as a reporter in Virginia, Kansas, and Florida.
Meet Alexander R. Cohen
Alexander is an editorial page writer. He is a native New Yorker. He has a bachelor's degree from American University, a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and he holds a master's in philosophy from the City University of New York.
