Nancy Gagnet wins first-quarter Eddy Award

As we transition to a new quarterly Eddy Award, Nancy is our first recipient.
Since joining The Blade in November of 2021, after 20 years with The Mirror in Maumee, Nancy has proven herself a tireless reporter. She began at The Blade writing business features (Barry Bagels turns 50, Marco’s pizza expansion), while also doing broader features for the Year of Glass and Health & Well-being sections.
Since October, she has been the primary Toledo city hall reporter, covering council meetings and other breaking news. We salute Nancy’s willingness to jump in whenever asked, from mentoring new reporters on the staff (including interns), to covering the aftermath of the Michigan State shootings.
Nancy has chosen cupcakes for her newsroom treat, which we will schedule in early April.
Each Eddy recipient will receive a $50 gift card. Our second Eddy winner will be selected in June.
