Gorny named features editor; Pearson, Brice take on assistant managing editor roles
Nicki Gorny, who has been the religion writer at The Blade since April 2017, will become the Features Editor effective Feb. 14.
Nicki has been serving as the features assignment editor for more than a year.
Before coming to The Blade, Nicki was a writer for the Sandusky Register. She also worked at the Ocala Star-Banner in Florida and before that served as a copy editor for the New York Times editing center.
She has a degree from Syracuse University in both journalism and Spanish.
Mike Pearson and Mike Brice both will serve in assistant managing editor capacities in the newsroom.
Mike Pearson will focus his role on the areas of features and administration, while Mike Brice will concentrate on news and digital. Mike will remain as city editor, a job he took on more than a year ago after moving from his spot of digital manager.
Mike Pearson has been at The Blade since February 2014, while Mike Brice joined us two years ago this month. They both have writing experience at previous newspapers.
In addition, Mike Pearson has served as a professor in journalism, and Mike Brice has worked in corporate communications.
Mike Pearson attended journalism school at Indiana University. Later, he was a Knight-Wallace fellow at the University of Michigan.
Mike Brice also has extensive education.
He obtained an undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Toledo, a certificate in integrated marketing from West Virginia State University, and a master’s degree in communications from Weber State University.
