McCray, Svoboda, Dutton win April Eddys

The Eddy Award winners for April have been selected, from some strong competition.

The News Eddy goes to Vanessa McCray for another very well-researched, well-written, compelling piece about St. John’s students who have stepped up to bury the remains of strangers with dignity. An awesome, awe-inspiring story.

The April Desk Eddy goes to Jeff Svoboda for keeping the website updated, handling story postings at night for display of the next day’s print stories, and broadening our social media posts. He also assisted our reporter on fired OSU marching band director Waters being hired by Heidelberg. He does an excellent job of finding errors or needs for clarification in some Web stories, and taking action to fix things before they are posted.

And Lisa Dutton takes home the Visual Eddy for her concerted efforts, using skill plus a little trial and error, to improve on the quality of photos published in the printed edition. The photos are now much crisper, and the reproduction is much better.

Each receives a $50 gas card. Nominations for the May Eddy Awards may be submitted at any time to Luann, but must be in by Noon on May 31.
