Meet Corey Crisan
Corey joins The Blade as an agate, copy editor and reporter after working at The Vindicator in Youngstown.
Beginning in 2016, Corey freelanced in the news and sports departments, covering anything from businesses and restaurants to golf tournaments and high school football. He also helped launch a weekly high school football web show called Blitz Live. The Vindicator printed its final edition in August.
Corey is from the Youngstown area – the small town of Masury, Ohio – near the Pennsylvania border. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor of arts in telecommunication studies and a minor in journalism in 2016. He then obtained a master’s degree in 2018 at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University
Previously, Corey worked for the Cleveland Indians affiliate Mahoning Valley Scrappers in Niles, Ohio as a radio broadcaster and web content producer. He also wrote and hosted podcasts for Indians Baseball Insider on 247sports.com and has covered every level of Minor League Baseball for them. While attending Syracuse, Corey covered Orange women’s basketball and football for Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician on SB Nation. He has also filled in as a host on Youngstown Sports Live on Youngstown’s CBS Sports Radio affiliate.
Corey is an around-the-clock Orange sports fan, but in his spare time, he enjoys cooking, playing golf, playing video games, and attending baseball games. He has been to more minor league stadiums than major league stadiums and looks forward to adding Fifth Third Field to his list of MiLB stadiums visited.
