Meet Dave Barkholz

Dave comes to The Blade as a business and finance reporter after a 33-year career with Automotive News and other Crain Communications publications.

A native Detroiter, his last Crain stint was in Nashville where neighbor Ronnie Dunn (Brooks & Dunn) turned the Barkholz family into country music fans.

Dave’s late father was an autoworker who introduced his kids to Cadillacs and Corvettes.

Dave co-founded a nonprofit with his wife Donna 25 years ago that has become a national leader in teaching job safety to teens and young workers. Dave and his family also helped to create a technical school in Haiti and a feeding program for Haitians living in the Dominican Republic.
