Meet David Jacobs

Hi: I am David, your night city editor, and a Toledo native returning to his hometown. I am making a return to The Blade.

I was a Blade intern in 1987 and was a reporter from 1994-1998, covering Toledo City Hall and the Lucas County government. I also covered the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

I later worked at the Associated Press in Columbus as a reporter/night supervisor and then worked for Gannett in Ohio and Nevada as a reporter and night city editor/assistant city editor in Reno, and as an editor at the Pahrump Valley Times in Nevada from 2003-2020.

I returned to Ohio as a journalist with Horizon Newspapers in the Mansfield area about two years ago.

I am a graduate of Sylvania Southview (1984), the University of Toledo (1988), and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism (1989).

I’m a pretty hardcore newsperson and enjoy breaking news and general assignment journalism the best. I’m very excited to be back and hope I can make a difference along the way.
