Meet Emily DiAlbert
Emily is another new addition to The Blade’s copy desk.
She graduated from the Ohio University E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in May with a degree in journalism and specializations in publications design and women’s, gender and sexuality studies.
Emily discovered her passion for editing two years ago while working as a copy editor for Ohio University’s student-produced radio station, ACRN Media. After a year as copy editor, she was promoted to editorial director, her most treasured position to date.
As editorial director, Emily worked to foster a thriving relationship between Athens, Ohio’s local musicians and Ohio University students, using visual media and the written word to highlight the unique sounds of Appalachia.
Emily has also worked as a copy editor for the Ohio Department of Public Safety, as a news editor and graphic designer for the Ohio University Department of Modern Languages and as copy chief for Southeast Ohio magazine. Before the pandemic became widespread, she also spent the winter in Seville, Spain, writing a documentary about Spanish drag queens.
Emily spent the summer freelance editing for a book publisher, learning how to embroider and playing with her 10-year-old schnoodle (schnauzer-poodle), Lucy.
Emily’s email address is [email protected]. Welcome to The Blade!
