Meet intern Ellie Buerk

Ellie joins The Blade as a newsroom intern for the summer of 2020 and is a recent graduate from the University of Notre Dame, where she worked as the editor-in-chief of the student-run news magazine Scholastic.

She is originally from Sylvania and is a 2016 graduate of Notre Dame Academy.

While at the University of Notre Dame, Ellie studied psychology, anthropology and teaching English to speakers of other languages. She spent a summer studying writing in Ireland, another conducting research in Peru and another teaching in Cambodia. Ellie also worked as a research assistant for the Building Resilience After Violence Exposure lab which studies intimate partner violence and its impact on motherhood.

Ellie is a Fulbright scholar and will be completing her fellowship in Argentina beginning in March 2021. She is eager to find out if her college Spanish stuck.
