Meet intern Kayla Yup

Kayla was born and raised in Baltimore. She’s a rising junior at Yale University with a double major in Biology and History of Science, Medicine and Public Health.

Kayla likes writing about public health, research, and health systems. She is the Science & Technology Editor for the Yale Daily News (her school paper), the full-length articles editor for the Yale Scientific Magazine, and a women’s health science communication fellow. On weekends, she volunteers as a medical debt & insurance counselor for low-income patients in New Haven.

She previously interned for The Nation’s Health, the American Public Health Association newspaper, and is currently a writing fellow for The Nation.

Kayla loves pigs, crocheting, and noodles. She’s excited to learn from everyone at The Blade this summer and explore Toledo from every angle.
