Meet Jeremy Schneider
Jeremy is the newest member of The Blade’s Digital and NewsSlide team.
He comes to Toledo after spending 2½ years as the Regional Sports Editor for three newspapers in central Kentucky, The Advocate-Messenger, The Jessamine Journal and The Interior Journal.
Prior to his time in Kentucky, Jeremy worked for The Columbus Dispatch, The Lima News, the Wapakoneta Daily News and the St. Marys Evening Leader. He also spent three years as the Sports Information Director at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima. He also spent six months trying to be a car salesman, but we don’t talk about that.
Jeremy’s best memories as a sportswriter and editor are interviewing C.C. Sabathia while he was wearing only a towel, getting shouted out of a AAA baseball locker room, walking past security into John Calipari’s house, and having a professional soccer player tell him he will shove a cleat in his … backside.
Outside of work, he’s been married to his wife, Darcey, for 15 years this October. They have four children, Evelynn, Jackson, Charles and Oliver. So really, other than that, he doesn’t have time for too much else. But when he does manage to sneak in some spare time, he enjoys going to local (non-chain) restaurants, being a horrible golfer and an even worse guitar player.
Jeremy grew up in Columbus, so obviously he roots for Ohio State. He understands he’s going from seeing too much UK (University of Kentucky) blue to too much maize and blue, but until they get a real football team in Ann Arbor, he’s not too worried.
Jeremy’s email address is [email protected] and his work extension is 6071. Welcome to The Blade, Jeremy.
