Meet Michelle Liu
I hail from College Station, Texas — home of the Fighting Texas Aggies and the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library — and am thrilled to be somewhere more metropolitan this summer.
I will be a junior this fall at Yale University, studying art history.
During my brief time at The Blade, I hope to experience the newsroom at its finest, hone my reporting skills, and broaden my knowledge and understanding of the city of Toledo (which are, as of now, nascent!). I look forward to learning from my editors, other reporters, and my fellow interns alike.
At school, I am a reporter for the Yale Daily News, where I cover relations between the university-hospital complex and the city of New Haven. Prior to that, I covered Connecticut state politics for the paper; my reporting interests as a student journalist have centered on policy, people, and neighborhoods, labor and economic development. I am also an intern at the Yale University Press and a docent at the university’s art gallery.
Outside of the newsroom, I wander museums, read books, and knit sweaters — and will gladly take any suggestions you have on those fronts and more.
Michelle’s email address is [email protected] and her work extension is 6050. Welcome, Michelle.
