Meet Mike Brice
Mike, our news digital director, joins The Blade with us with a varied background as a news reporter, corporate communicator, and public relations leader with experience in digital strategy, brand development, crisis communications, etc.
After a start in journalism with the Sylvania-based West Toledo Herald newspapers and stops at the Sandusky Register and Fremont News-Messenger, he worked at some of the world’s largest brands, including Sunoco, Westinghouse and Honda, where he helped direct the automaker’s social media communications. He was most recently the public relations specialist at the Toledo Museum of Art.
While Mike was raised in Iowa, he has called Toledo home since 1991. He lives in Old Orchard with his girlfriend, Christine. He has two children who also reside in the Toledo area. His daughter, Alison (24) is an animal keeper at the Toledo Zoo and his son, Nate (21), is a city of Toledo firefighter.
He enjoys traveling, photography, filmmaking, HAM radio and flying, and volunteers at the Ability Center where he helps raise and train service and therapy dogs. His standard poodle, Leonard, is a training fail from his first attempt, but he has helped train two Labradors that were placed as service dogs. He also volunteers with Better Together Toledo, an advocacy group helping youth who have aged out of foster care.
Mike has an undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Toledo, a certificate in integrated marketing from West Virginia University and a master’s degree in communications from Weber State University.
