Meet Sarah Elms

I’m Sarah, a northwest Chicago suburbs native and Wisconsin-lover.

I come from the Record-Eagle in beautiful Traverse City, Mich., where I worked for nearly three years covering K-12 education, social services, and features.

Before that, I worked at a daily newspaper in Gillette, Wyo., a middle-of-nowhere town that boasts open coal mines and smoke-filled bars. There I covered health and features.

Right out of college, I worked for a grant-funded long-form storytelling outfit, Stry.us, in Springfield, Mo. I graduated in 2012 from Marquette University in Milwaukee. I love cheese, beer and the Packers.

I live in the Harvard Terrace neighborhood. After work hours, you likely will find me hiking, listening to records and public radio, and trying desperately not to set off my smoke alarm while expanding my culinary skills.
