Meet Sheila Howard
Hi! My name is Sheila. I was born and raised in neighboring Detroit before relocating to the Toledo area in 2013.
I am wife, mom, and Mima to 21 grands who are my absolute joy! I have a B.S. degree in Community Development from Central Michigan University, but my initial training was in Journalism and Communications, which I studied at Wayne State. I have had the privilege to lend my writing to my high school paper, college paper, and Toledo’s Interfaith Gazette.
Inspired by some serious health challenges, I began my health journey that led to a 171-pound weight loss and subsequent complete lifestyle change. I have authored three books to date that have a focus on health, fitness, and nutrition with a spotlight on juicing and its benefits. I love music, especially jazz and Gospel. I am a church musician and choir director. I’m an avid juicer, Raw Foodist, and bona fide gym rat. I love writing, researching, and all things health. I enjoy word games, especially Scrabble, Ruzzle, and Words with Friends.
At The Blade, Sheila will be a general assignment reporter with an emphasis on health reporting. Sheila’s email address is [email protected] and her work extension is 6198.
