Hi, I’m Steve, a new features writer at The Blade.

My favorite previous position was as a features writer in the BayLife section at the Tampa Tribune, and so I’m excited to once again be in this role – telling compelling stories of the people who make this community special as well as the places and events worth knowing more about. One of the best story tips I ever received was from a manager in the circulation department, and so feel free to hit me with any good idea you might have.

I also was an assistant sports editor in Tampa, and have written for the Detroit Free Press, Orlando Sentinel, Ann Arbor News, Key West Citizen, the University of Michigan’s Athletic Department website and others. I grew up in Trenton, Mich., and graduated from Eastern Michigan University when it was still the Hurons. And I covered the Mid-American Conference for several years.

My wife, Mary, and I have three sons and four grandchildren. We live in Plymouth, Mich., and I enjoy swimming, a good workout, reading and a good movie or TV show. I look forward to meeting everyone and working together as a team.
