Messina, Dombrowski, Morrison win July 2017 Eddy Awards
July was a hot month when it came to great staff effort. Taking home Eddy Awards for their efforts are:
Ignazio Messina received numerous nominations for the News Eddy for his body of work on a variety of stories. He broke and continued to stay on top of the fact that “extra” money was found by the city of Toledo. He also broke a story about Rob Ludeman having hand-held camera speeding tickets removed by the police chief for his wife and himself. The police department said the officer was in the wrong location. Weeks later, the city announced it was going to drop other motorists’ tickets for the same location.
Our Desk Eddy goes to newbie (at least to The Blade) Dave Dombrowski, for jumping in to work the sports slot because of a colleague’s absence. Dave did a great job designing the front and working with the reporters to put out quality sections. He has always been eager to help and tackles every task successfully.
The Visual Eddy goes to Andy Morrison for his photo gallery of the Toledo Museum of Art Block Party. Who could look at those photos are not smile?
Each receives a $50 gas card, and our thanks.
Nominations for August Eddys can be made to Luann at any time during the month bu no later than noon on Thursday, Aug. 31.
