New Blade website in testing stage
As you may have heard from a co-worker, or read in Editor & Publisher, toledoblade.com is being redesigned.
The new look, which has been months in development, will be more visual, and will provide us with better display of stories, photos and videos. The new site also will provide more locations for ad placement, which should help our advertising sales team. Visually, it may remind you a little of the CNN or Mashable websites, with alternating photos, or videos, and prominent breaking news positions. Our site should improve the reading /viewing experience even more by automatically elevating the most read stories to a more prominent position on the home pages. Some of the content on the page you see may be different than other readers because it is based on your reading habits and preferences.
The site is still in the testing stages, although a pop-ad appears on the current toledoblade.com website, alerting people that a new site is coming. Once the bugs are mostly worked out, we will move to the new site. In the meantime, if you want a sneak peek, check with Greg Braknis, who is testing the new platforms. You can see the new site at beta.toledoblade.com, but that test site has been a little temperamental. Our target date for public launch is before the end of this month, but is subject to our testing results.
