Sigov, Schneider, Miller capture October Eddys
The October Eddy Award winners have been selected and they are:
Mike Sigov wins the News Eddy for the role he played in our coverage of three breaking news stories in October. Mike headed to the scene and quickly reported back everything we needed to get the news of councilman Larry Sykes’ arrest online and in the next day’s paper. He gathered interviews from those involved (including video), and got confirmation on key details from police. He also helped cap off our coverage of the fatal fire near Fostoria, tracking down a firefighter who worked with one of the victims (and confirmed that victim’s name), got comment from the local superintendent, and provided color, detail and community reaction. Mike also did a great job batting clean up after two 18-year-olds were shot and killed in South Toledo.
Jeremy Schneider takes home the Desk Eddy for his design and layout work for the first Blade NewsSlide special edition on the Toledo Walleye.
Jimmy Miller wins the Visual Eddy for his efforts on the Walleye, Zombies and Construction, Oh My! interactive NewsSlide graphic on Oct. 21.
Each receives a $50 gas card. Nominations for November Eddy awards can be made at any time during the month but must be to Luann by noon Nov. 30.
