Lindstrom, Walton, King win August Eddys
In addition to excellent team coverage of the Charlottesville white supremacist’s rally, we had a strong August.
The Eddy Award winners for the month are:
Lauren Lindstrom, News Eddy, for being such a good sport (and reporter) and writing a compelling, first-person account of being “felled by a fritter” at Mama C’s in Maumee.
The Desk Eddy goes to Mike Walton for jumping on the explosion in Swanton on Aug. 30. Mike was quick to contact Kim Bates for direction and to send Mike Sigov and later Mark Zaborney to the scene. Details were sketchy, but Mike stayed on it, and updated stories for digital and print.
And while we are in Swanton, Lori King receives the Visual Eddy for the month. Lori was contacted at 7:47 p.m. by Lisa Dutton to respond to reports of a stand-off situation. She was quick to head out and made it there in record time. Her first photo was transmitted in at 8:25 p.m. Her promptness helped us lead in the coverage of the story.
Each receives a $50 gas card. Nominations for September Eddys can be made at any time during the month, but must be submitted to Luann by 10 a.m. on Oct. 2.
