Meet Cameron Nye
Cameron Nye is a newsroom intern at The Blade and is a rising senior at Yale University studying political science.
Originally from Lancaster, Pa., he is thrilled to work in a building next to a field because it reminds him of his Amish neighbors. At Yale, Cameron previously was a staff reporter for the Yale Daily News’ Arts Desk, where he covered theater and the performing arts. This year, he left that all behind and began writing reviews, acting as the News’ chief theater critic. He has also written for the Yale Daily News Magazine and the Yale Herald.
Cameron’s previous summers have been spent flipping burgers at McDonald’s, writing signs for butterfly exhibits at the Reading Museum, and reporting for his hometown newspaper, the Ephrata Review, where he covered everything from up-and-coming morticians to corn-cob-eating competitions.
Outside of journalism, Cameron plays the clarinet in the Yale University Wind Ensemble and is the president of Yale’s handbell ensemble. He is also an active member of Yale’s American Sign Language club. In his spare time, he enjoys caring for the slew of houseplants that occupy his windowsill.
