Meet Kelly Kong
Kelly Kong is a newsroom intern at The Blade and a rising junior at Yale University. Originally from Massachusetts, she is very excited to be working in Toledo this summer!
On campus, she serves as the co-editor-in-chief of the New Journal, a longform magazine that publishes five issues of investigative reporting, narrative nonfiction, and creative work about Yale and New Haven per year. Prior to this summer, she’s extensively covered Connecticut’s homeschooling policy oversight, failures in Yale’s mental health and leave policies, as well as President Trump’s ban on international students from China.
Kelly also covers education and development, housing, and homelessness for the Yale Daily News and edits features for the Yale Herald, a weekly news and culture publication.
Outside of journalism, Kelly enjoys sumo oranges and boba without tapioca. An avid media consumer, she loves going to the movies (and logging them on her Letterboxd), watching Sondheim musicals, and keeping up with book reviews on books she most likely won’t read. She looks forward to a great summer at The Blade.
