Mileage rate decreases for 2017

Beginning Jan. 1, The Blade’s mileage rate for business travel is going down 0.5 cents per mile.

As of the first of the year, the company will reimburse employees 53.5 cents per mile when they use their personal vehicle for business travel.

The new rate, based on the Internal Revenue Service, compares to a rate of 54 cents per mile for 2016.

The IRS standard mileage rate for business is based on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs of operating an automobile.
