Meet Isaac Ritchey
My name is Isaac. I am a recent addition to The Blade’s photography staff.
I first grew interested in photojournalism during an internship at the Altoona Mirror after my sophomore year at Central Michigan University in 2019. I failed and succeeded as the sole weekday photographer at the paper, but gained some entry-level knowledge on which I built a passion for visual storytelling.
I returned to campus and served as the student publication Central Michigan Life’s editor-in-chief while leading the newsroom through the pandemic. I graduated from Central Michigan University in May 2021. I then moved to Flint and learned alongside the staff at The Flint Journal, where I helped cover the Oxford school shooting in November 2021.
I have moved numerous times in my life — Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, so I am excited about getting to know another place. More importantly, I look forward to capturing moments that best tell the story of Toledo and its surrounding communities.
