Meet Jim Trumm
Jim is a native of Toledo and has also lived in Maine, Boston, China, Tunisia, and Puerto Rico. A graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, Colby College, and Northeastern University School of Law, his earliest published works were book reviews for The Blade and travel articles for The Village Voice of Ottawa Hills.
In 1980, he was one of 10 plaintiffs in a suit brought by the ACLU against the Selective Service System which sought to declare draft registration unconstitutional on grounds of sex discrimination. The case went to the Supreme Court under the name Rostker et als. v. Goldberg.
In 2017, he became the managing editor of ConsumersAdvocate.org, whose parent company eventually acquired Money magazine. He has written and edited numerous articles on consumer finance for those publications as well as for the Miami Herald, the Kansas City Star, the Sacramento Bee, and US News & World Report.
Travel is his passion. He has visited 54 countries, including Iceland, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Laos, Morocco, Bolivia, and all seven nations of Central America. He is on the board of the World Affairs Council of Northwest Ohio. He volunteers in various capacities with the Toledo Metroparks and was recently honored as the outstanding new volunteer of the year.
He currently lives in the Westgate area of Toledo.
